The Congress Govt has surprised me by keeping quiet for so long (for ONE month) without making any surprise (stupid?) moves. They have compensated enough with the proposed education policy. Abolish tenth public examination; abolish marks; and slowly abolish +2 exams too !! Wah.. Wah !! Well, if you are wondering on how students would be graded and selected for elite courses like IIT and IIM - dont worry - Congress Govt may come up with some other stupendous ideas - say, if your are a Muslim, you can get a seat in IIT or IIM ("saving minority community" agenda). If you are an SC/ST, you dont have to work hard with your studies, you can directly become a President or Vice President or Speaker ("saving the supressed strata of society" agenda) !! What ???? Are you asking about those kids with talent ??? Tell them to go to their backyard (if they are left with any) and cut grass !! Jai Hind !!!
The only thing nice about the proposed education policy is making education compulsory for children upto the age of 12. Thats one nice rule. But, I am sure, as like the Child labour policy, this particular enactment will never be implemented.

Dear Gowri,
1. Show me one SC/ST President, Vice President or Speaker who did not work hard...?
2. There is an SC boy with us. He has scored 92 percent marks in +2 science stream. Is it possible to get a seat in Anna University for him?

I reproduce my earlier comment in your blog for the news item "Speaker, Meira Kumar" -
"Yesterday it was Dalit President, Today it is Dalit Speaker, Tomorrow it may be Dalit Prime Minister....
The question remains when is the liberation for innocent Dalits...??"

Dear Subbi Sir,
1. Show me one SC/ST President, Vice President or Speaker who did not work hard...?
Who doesn't work hard?? Especiall the politicians !! We all know how hard has our present speaker worked hard to get to this position. Its not an easy job to be born to a "so called" leader!! Its not an easy job to be a "Politician" in India. We all work hard. Don't we !!
2. There is an SC boy with us. He has scored 92 percent marks in +2 science stream. Is it possible to get a seat in Anna University for him?
If the kid has scored 92% and has not got a seat - then it only indicates that the cut-off mark for SC/STs have gone high. There is an easy way to get a seat for such students - ban all the FCs from applying for Anna university and IITs/IIMs. If you are interested, please check the cut off marks for FCs in Anna university. Please stop talking like a politician and kindly understand that if poverty is the criteria - then, I can show you hundreds of poor FCs who have scored above 99% and still go without a seat in Anna!!
If you think that the new education policy is going to "liberate innocent Dalits" - Kudos !! Your line of argument is excellent. Please also start arguing that "we should kick out the bloody FCs from India and ban them from everything" - you, soon, will become a MLA, if not a AP !!
Dear Gowri,
1.I didnot go into the new Education policy.
2. For my question, your answer is vague. You said, you dont have to work hard with your studies, you can directly become President, ..... Hence, the question. Just read your answer once more. If you understand that, well.
3. With the second point, your answer shows that you know the situation. Yes, the cutoff mark for an SC boy or girl is 99.2% this time. The reservation policy had given them the confidence and opportunity to fight for these seats.
4. I do not understand onething, Gowri. The people who are agitated with the reservation policy, are keeping mum on reservation for elite. In the privatised education sector, the one who has the money gets the seat. I can show you hundreds of OTHERS who have got the seats by paying the required amount, but scored only 60, 70 and 80 percent marks.
The argument continues ;)
1. From what you have written, I guess, my content of the specific posting has not reached you properly (or, I dont know whether that was intentional on your part !!). You have clearly got it wrong !! I said that the present Congress Govt has come out with a stupid education policy and MAY follow it up with more stupid such ideas (Well, if you are wondering on how students would be graded and selected for elite courses like IIT and IIM - dont worry - Congress Govt may come up with some other stupendous ideas).
2. "Yes, the cutoff mark for an SC boy or girl is 99.2% this time. The reservation policy had given them the confidence and opportunity to fight for these seats." - The cut off mark for FC is 99.9% and for SC/ST is 99.2% - how does that gives confidence. God knows !!! Do you want me to do a research on the plight of poor FC kids who score wonderful marks and still end up nowhere ?? This is where all you folks wantonly turn blind - because, after all, FCs are the REAL MINORITIES in this nation - and you all can do well without their votes !!
3. "Reservation for elite" - That is how our nation has been built upon !! Reservation upon reservation upon reservation - and that is what I stand against !! The Government has set the "standard" - what is wrong if others follow ?? People living in glass house should not throw stone at others. Atleast not you and your party !! Because "RESERVATION agenda is NOT yours alone" !! If you can do it on "(pseudo) equality" agenda - let others do it on "business" agenda. With the equality agenda you try to build votes, with the business agenda pvt players try to build their business. All these makes no difference to those who actually suffer !!
[There were a few typos that I posted as a second comment to this posting - just setting things right with the correction below]
1. Show me one SC/ST President, Vice President or Speaker who did not work hard...?
Who doesn't work hard?? Especially the politicians !! We all know how hard has our present speaker worked to get to this position. Its not an easy job to be born to a "so called" leader!! Its not an easy job to be a "Politician" in India. Isnt our CM Mr.Karunanidhi and his clan the best example?? Anyway, We all work hard. Don't we !!
2. There is an SC boy with us. He has scored 92 percent marks in +2 science stream. Is it possible to get a seat in Anna University for him?
If the kid has scored 92% and has not got a seat - then it only indicates that the cut-off mark for SC/STs have gone high. What has this got to do with "liberation", "new education policy", blah.. blah !!!
We still have a solution for that - an easy way to get a seat for such students - ban all the FCs from applying for Anna university and IITs/IIMs. If you are interested, please check the cut off marks for FCs in Anna university. Please stop talking like a politician and kindly understand that if poverty is the criteria - then, I can show you hundreds of poor FCs who have scored above 99% and still go without a seat in Anna!! Its high time you realise that Anna university is the first amongst the best in Tamil Nadu and only the top scorers get into it (within their respective quota too!)
If you think that the new education policy is going to "liberate innocent Dalits" - Kudos !! Your line of argument is excellent. Please also start arguing that "we should kick out the bloody FCs from India and ban them from everything" - add "recognizing the Madarsaas as accredited Institutions (Why not University?)" mantra - you, soon, will become a MLA, if not a MP !!
Dear Gowri,
1. I am very clear on what you have said. But my intention is to come out clear on Social Justice. Infact, our party has come out strongly against the new education policy.
2. We are not blind on Social Justice. CPI(M) is the only political party that supported the creamy layer that was proposed by the Supreme Court. In Kerala, the present Government had brought the reservation for the poor students from OTHERS category.
3. "After all, FCs are REAL MINORITIES" - In Tamil Nadu, we have only one MP. He is from REAL MINORITY(as described by you) group. We are not blind on this. We had put up this candidate even when the West part of Tamil Nadu was witnessing the electoral contests on caste lines. Kongu Munnetra Kazhagam had contested 10 seats including Coimbatore and got substantial votes. In Coimbatore, they have got more than a lakh of votes.
4. How does the 99.2 percent of cut-off marks gives confidence...? I see a healthy competition among the Dalits to score more. They had come to this stage, because they had a chance. They were given this chance by the reservation policy. Even within the Dalits, Arunthathiyars have got wrong treatment. Hence, the sub-quota for them within the Dalits reservation.
