** Now Nepal !! **

I, in this blog, before sometime expressed my reservations on powers that rule Nepal falling in to the hands of Maoists. I felt and still do feel that democracy in the hands of Maoists is a dangerous option. Now, the Government in Nepal has sacked the General who stood against allowing Maoists into the Nepal army. The General will Go and the Maoists will have their say. This is not good - both for Nepal and for India. Now Nepal completes the wonderful set of neighbours that India has - Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka - all failed States or on the verge of collapse !! It is the time that we should have a strong Govt at the centre. But the election trends does not give a very healthy sign. BJP and its allies, from the available trends, are not going to get a majority on their own. Congress too is far away from it. That leaves the possiblity of all these bits and pieces getting together to form an ugly mosaic and a government at the centre. I feel, we are inching towards another ugly phase in Indian history !! Imagine Laloo + Mulayam + Sharad Pawar + Mamta + LEFT + etc as our rulers. We are going to be at our weakest when we are supposed to be very strong - to handle the economic crisis and all these neighbourhood crisis !! My GOD !!!

reading the various news items emanating from India, I feel the future looks very bleak.

i'm predicting an indo-pak war, where pak, bangladesh and nepal will attack india with chinese support.

and look what we have done to the troops coming back from AP. attacking our own army severely undermines our national security. this lets our enemies know that our people can be incited to attack our own army.

Hi...

The Maoists did not follow the norms in governance. They had started behaving as if the mandate given to them is for changing the set-up. Actually, that was not the case. Maoists have transgressed the Lakshman Rekha.

But....

" One of the agreements of the peace process was the rehabilitation of the PLA fighters mainly in the security forces." - S. Chandrasekaran, an observer of South Asia.

If this is true, the Maoists were correct in dismissing the General. But, Gowri... I wonder, you had wholeheartedly supported the dismissal of Admiral Vishnu Bhagwat by George Fernandes, the then Defence Minister. Later, Jaya Jaitley, the friend of George Fernandes was caught while taking bribe for influencing a deal regarding Navy. That is history.

Apropos the Vishnu Bhagwat link - its totally misplaced. Unlike Nepal Government, Indian Govt did NOT order to recruit terrorists and naxals into Indian Navy. Vishnu Bhagwat was not Gen Katwal to oppose the Govt's view on recuriting naxals. How can the cases be compared?? Drawing parlance is wrong.

I still stand by my view on Vishnu Bhagwat. Jaya Jaitely/George Fernandes bribery scam does not make Vishu Bhagawat a holy cow!!
